Asia Pacific Museum Exchange
Empowering museum professionals through community dialogue and preserving cultural heritage through collaborative partnerships across Asia and the Pacific.
About APME
Asia-Pacific Museum Exchange (APME) is a program of the U.S. Department of State’s Heritage Exchange Initiative—a series of cultural heritage focused programs to strengthen ties between the United States, Pacific Islands, and Southeast Asian nations to build professional networks across the ocean we share. With support from the Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the U.S. National Park Service’s Museum Management Program and the University of Hawaiʻi Center for Southeast Asian Studies developed and implemented APME via the Hawaiʻi-Pacific Islands Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit.
Virtual Webinar Series
The APME Virtual Webinar Series aimed to build new cross-cultural connections, engage in dynamic discussions, and strengthen community networks through a series of nine online workshops. Facilitated by the National Park Service Museum Management Program, the online gatherings convened a diverse cohort of museum curators, collections managers, and cultural heritage stewards.
